Waste Gate Flume Replacement

Inside the mill and above the water wheel is the forebay which serves as the reservoir for constant water flow to the water wheel when in operation.  The waste gate and flume provide a means for the miller to drain the forebay and control excess water.  After years of oxidation the waste gate flume deteriorated and no longer directed the waste water down toward the tail race.  It was removed and replaced (shown in the first two photos below) and the waste gate operation is seen on the right.
